Money for Promoting Vaccines

Barbara Loe Fisher does it again. She has written a great post about the hidden vaccine risks and who is making $$$ behind closed doors. Check it out:

Voices for Hiding Vaccine Risks: Follow the $

She sites a report that CBS News did on July 25 that reported on some of the financial ties between vaccine manufacturers and non-profit organizations and individuals who are aggressively pushing vaccines.

A quote from her post:

When you connect the dots in a "Follow the Vaccine Money" exercise, you don't have to look very far to see who is paying who to promote unquestioning faith in the safety of vaccines and one- size-fits-all vaccine policies. It takes a lot of money for the drug companies and their allies to persuade parents that it is necessary to pump 69 doses of 16 vaccines into children from birth to age 18 to keep them healthy.

While I understand your genuine concern for your children and share it for my own, I think your blog can be very dangerous to people (especially moms) who I think have a natural tendancy to worry and be pressured to feel guilty for being "conventional" and allowing there kids to be vaccinated, or for giving them effectual medication for real problems that the body can't "heal on its own". Not everything is a big conspiracy by the drug companies (as the main stream media and liberals would have you think). The "research" you encourage moms to do I'm sure is on the internet, which we KNOW is always accurate. How about instead of reading articles on CNN.com or in Reader's Digest for your health info, you take a look at some actual randomized controlled trials, I mean the actual studies, instead of what the news media reports a blurb about. That blurb often times takes the actual message of the study and distorts the actual scientific conclusion of the it, and taken in the context of what was being studied, is not true.

Its this fear and guilt purpetrated upon young, impressionable, and easily guilted mothers, and perpetuated by uninformed people, that allows things like measles outbreaks to occur. See this recent story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,379388,00.html

I think mothers can easily be made to feel guilty about giving their children vaccines and medications, but you need to use the wonderful, reasoning, brain God has given us and not become awash in the mainstream media's sensationalism about various "dangers". Nor things they read on the internet. Please go to the source material if you want to talk about facts, and not to a link on some news website. You are doing everyone a disservice.

"Concerned Parent",
Thank you for stopping by. While I appreciate your opinion, I do have to say that I find it funny that you criticize me for giving links to articles I find on CNN and Reader's Digest, yet you linked us to Fox News. Did I miss the big ceremony where they were introduced as the new JAMA? =)

As for defending myself and the national news that I find and post, I have nothing to defend. The news speaks for itself. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Concerned Parent # 1,
I agree with you totally this blog is dangerous, but I find myself coming back to read all the "crock" that is put on this blog because I can't beleieve that people actually think like this. I used to work for a Family Docotor and the Dr. and I got in conversations about a Patient not wanting to vaccinate thier child. the Dr. simply said it was neglection. How can you not protect presious children from the horrible diseases.

The internet is not always right. You dont know if what you are reading is true. So why would you beleieve the stuff thats on it?

Anyways Concerned Parent #1 I agree with you that your body can't always "heal its self on it's own" I do agree if you have a headache try laying down and resting before going and grabbing the tylenol bottle. But on the other hand if you have severe diabetes the body cant "heal itself" you have to have insulin.

But I try to respect people opinions, But when you just don't agree its very hard. I guess we cant change people , but it is good to let the people you disagree with know your thoughts.
Thanks for reading my post.
